In the name of the Macedonian language, in the name of the word, the thought, the spirit and the customs, I would like to offer something authentic, something modern, yet traditional. I imagine that to be something small, yet huge, like a drop of lake water, like a white Ohrid pearl, like a handful of snow from the Shara mountain, like the tickling waters from the Vardar, like a folk song, like the flute, like a dance, like Embroideress (Vezilka) Blaze Koneski’s poem, like Whittie Dawns (Beli mugri) Racin’s poem, like tavce gravce (traditional meal), like Skopje, like Prilep, like Bitola, Ohrid, Struga … If I continue with the wines, with the fields, with the flowers, with the monasteries, with the churches, with the costumes, there will be no end to it.
This is a virtual classroom where Macedonian language is being taught. It is called CYRILLIC. It bears the name of the alphabet used for the Macedonian language, it is the name of St. Cyril and my father’s name, at the same time.
I ‘feel’ Cyrillic, and I believe all of us who contribute to this beautiful language be heard and learned, do. Cyrillic is everyone who uses it, writes it, reads it and takes care of it.
Some other Slavic languages also use the Cyrillic alphabet, but this virtual classroom deals only with the Macedonian Cyrillic alphabet.
Here, in Skopje, in recent years there has been an influx of foreigners who are interested in learning the Macedonian in order to get to know the culture, tradition and customs of Macedonia better.
Having the opportunity to teach the language to many of them (so far from 13 different nationalities), I realize that the factor of “free time” is a difficulty for active inclusion in language courses.
On the other hand, I know that many foreigners who plan to stay in Macedonia have difficulty in finding a virtual tutor who will teach them the basics of the language and social life in this country.
Imagining the needs of potential visitors to Macedonia, I decided on such a project. Of course, I leave space for all language lovers, for enthusiasts who want to get acquainted with the new reality and for all those who are interested in immersing themselves with a new image of impressions.
All our people from the diaspora are welcome, especially the young generations born abroad who speak the Macedonian language, but use it poorly or incorrectly.
Classes will be held in English or Italian.
Hoping that this will arise your interest, I welcome you all!
